IT Solutions for the Legal Sector
Robust IT solutions for the legal sector enable firms to effectively communicate with clients whilst managing complex document and billing management systems, and ensuring the security of sensitive client data.
Network Connectivity
Good network connectivity and a reliable, high-speed internet connection is vital in the legal sector, to ensure best practice, share valuable data and provide advice to clients. Whilst working with a diverse client base, demanding workload and billing by the minute, law firms cannot afford for their productivity to be affected by poor network connectivity.
Securus’ connectivity solutions give you access to a fully managed service, and we continually test and manage network performance. Our services are backed by exceptional, industry-leading Service Level Agreements.
Case Study – Tinsdills Solicitors
Tinsdills Solicitors, based in Staffordshire and Cheshire, has been practising law for nearly 350 years and offers a broad range of legal services.
Tinsdills has four offices and had utilised a VPN network for many years, before installing a WAN network infrastructure. They wanted to upgrade their internet connectivity and deploy a managed service with resilience and business continuity, at a competitive price.
Jaki Cooke, Head of IT Services at Tinsdills Solicitors:
“Securus obviously knew what they were doing from the outset. I really liked their work ethic and how they do business: they are incredibly knowledgeable and have a deep understanding of the connectivity challenges that businesses face. Without stable, robust connectivity, we have no business! Their approach was very professional, and they filled me with confidence from the outset.”
Securus implemented a fully managed MPLS solution across all four offices. Each site has dual Ethernet connections, providing highly resilient active/backup capability for each office. Tinsdills now have significantly increased connectivity capacity, but at a much more competitive rate. The additional benefits of MPLS are scalability, performance, better bandwidth utilisation, reduced network congestion and an improved end user experience.
Securus also deployed a more comprehensive WiFi solution, enabling staff to work flexibly in all offices. Multiple WiFi networks ensure proper security segregation between trusted and untrusted devices.
High speed internet connectivity, security and resilience were the top priorities for Tinsdills, and that is what Securus delivered. Securus supported Tinsdills on a 24/7, three-year contract. There is no single point of failure: Securus deployed a pair of HA firewalls in the core network, along with dual connections and dual routers to each site. This, coupled with multiple WiFi access points, provides Tinsdills with ultimate resilience.
Network Monitoring
By monitoring the different components of your network, you can identify anomalies and take effective action quickly. Securus can help you can minimise downtime for increased productivity by implementing 24/7 monitoring, early detection and automatic alerts.
For performance optimisation, we can track network bandwidth usage to identify congestion and optimise traffic flow. Network latency monitoring will ensure real-time communication and application responsiveness.
Data storage and remote working access are secure with a serverless environment. Should a disaster occur, your data will remain safe and accessible remotely via web or mobile apps, enabling business continuity.
Private, Hybrid and Public Cloud
Law firms are realising the benefits that cloud services can offer, in terms of efficiencies, better client experiences and cost savings. Cloud computing has proved invaluable with the increase of remote working as it enables you to access data at any time, from any location. Not only does this enable your teams to maintain productivity levels outside the office from any device, it allows them to do so securely.
Most practice management software easily integrates with cloud technology, and the economies of scale offered by off-site, cloud-hosted systems mean that law firms can access better protection against cyberattacks at little extra cost.
Cloud infrastructures allow you to increase your capacity as and when workload demands. Office expansion across multiple sites can be implemented quickly, with reduced hardware investment and set-up costs.
Business Continuity
Having proven and tested disaster recovery processes in place will help ensure business continuity in the event of an incident, allowing you to return to normal operations as quickly as possible.
It’s important to make sure your IT infrastructure solutions comply with legal and regulatory requirements, such as data privacy laws (GDPR or HIPAA) and legal ethics standards.
Quality of Service (QoS) policies help to prioritise critical applications like video conferencing, whilst Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) systems can detect and prevent unauthorised access, malware and other security threats.
Continuously monitoring firewall logs and rules ensures that network traffic is properly filtered and secured.
Cybersecurity
Cyberattacks make up 75% of all reported crime in the UK. Law firms and their clients are an attractive target because transactions often involve large sums of money, and law firms control sensitive information on behalf of their clients. A ransomware attack could be catastrophic to your business operations and could seriously damage the trust you have with your clients.
Keeping a law firm cyber secure requires a comprehensive approach as the attacks are from multiple directions and are constantly changing. Securus has vast experience in email security solutions and can support the deployment of spam filters, anti-phishing software and email encryption.
